Today Gracie would have been 3. Three years ago today, she went to be with Jesus. A new creation, perfect and whole. It has been 3 years of missing her absence, but 3 years of testimony of God's redemption and how His word is true and changing. When His word promised that He was near the broken hearted and crushed in spirit, we felt Him. When His word promised that His mercies were new every morning, we have experienced them. When His word promised that He would give us comfort and joy instead of sorrow, we witnessed it.
Today wasn't weighed by the heaviness of Gracie's loss even though we still feel it. It was more of a celebration of the hope we have of seeing her again one day in heaven. God is giving us comfort and joy instead of sorrow.
So today we baked a cake, made party hats, and sang happy birthday to Gracie. We wondered if she was celebrating in heaven...her real birthday. The birth of a life she was always made for....a life we were made for.....a life spent with Jesus.
Happy Birthday Gracie! We love you!

Caroline and Anna Laura helping make the cake

Caroline is suppose to be icing the cake

Anna Laura is suppose to be watching sister ice the cake...but she got bored

Party time!

My sister's mother in law, Vicky, planted butter cups in her yard for Gracie when she died. Just recently Vicky dug up the bulbs and gave them to me to plant in my yard. We planted the bulbs about a month ago and we noticed this little bloom today! Thank you God for this beautiful gift today! Thank you Vicky for giving me such a beautiful reminder of Gracie's little life!
